In June 2018, in conjunction with the creative ideas platform "Advertalist", a poster contest was announced to promote free and regular blood donation in our country.
150 creative ideas that DonorUA has been implementing since 2018 as part of its communication to recruit blood donors, and the winner's work was used for the design of the website. The idea of "add some red" and a number of posters became a visual consept all over the country and began to sound even louder, attracting people to the donor movement in Ukraine. The DonorUA competition for a poster in support of donation caused the greatest response.
The winner of the contest Katya Kuropyatnyk: “I have created these works for the contest initiated by Donor.ua held by the creative platform Advertalist (advertalist.com). My posters won the contest.
After I checked lots of material dedicated to blood donation motivation I have realized that most of it is rather repulsive because of real blood splashes, blood bags all red, hands with tubes sticking up.
This is reality but it is not what blood donation process is about. So I wanted to show that it is about giving somebody something what is missing and not letting them live a full life. When you share your blood – globally, it is a little thing to make. But for somebody that blood he or she receives can became something crucial, a detail which can make life fuller, a real cherry on top”.
In 2019, DonorUA began searching for ideas through all over the world, bringing together graphic designers, illustrators, animators and others. More than 50 works from around the world were received.
Due to the pandemic and critical situations in which Ukrainian patients found themselves, DonorUA was forced to shift its focus to the implementation of projects DonorUAAID, #taxifordonors, DonorUA AWARDS 2020 and did not implement the work of talented people during 2019-2020. But this year we will combine all the works into an exhibition and spread the works of talented people.
